biography

I had the privilege to call a newsroom my professional home for several years. Experiencing the world through the eyes of media is both a responsibility and an honor which forever shifted my perspective. A family relocation "home" to Amarillo has allowed me to flex my skills in the business sector, learning the other side of the coin and rounding out a skillset in both public and private communications. Recent opportunities in the political arena have widen my scope and piqued fresh and exciting interest on a new stage.
A West Texas A&M graduate, I moved from Amarillo to begin a career in broadcast journalism at KSAN News in San Angelo, Texas. There I was quickly promoted to the main evening news desk. Organization and self-motivation served me well in this small-market, self-starter setting.
A move to Tyler, Texas gave me an incredible opportunity to hone my strengths beyond reporting and anchoring at KLTV News. Audience targeting and messaging, a strong focus on web and social media contribution and team management are among the skills I sharpened in my tenure with KLTV. I am honored to have been a part of the team awarded an Emmy for Best Evening Newscast for our work covering the deadly tornadoes in Van, Texas in 2015.
I have a deep commitment to philanthropy. Board of Directors service with Amarillo Montessori Academy, Habitat for Humanity, and my Delta Zeta Sorority, of which I am an alumni, offer me wonderful opportunities to again widen my scope of experience and knowledge, while allowing me an opportunity to invest and give back. I engage in speaking and public events as often as possible.
During time to myself, I enjoy cooking and gardening. I am almost always working on a good book, usually historical fiction or media-related biographies.
